  1. Great site, Kid. Thank for finding it. I'm not overly worried about being in the path of this virus, but it's still nice to keep track of what's going on.

    2. PS - It certainly doesn't kill everyone it affects. I've read that the deaths are of older people and people with various existing medical problems.

    3. PPS - The incubation have can be from 0 - 14 days. That's a long time that someone could pass on the virus.

    4. Adrienne, I am also not overly concerned but it's been reported that the virus is contagious during the incubation phase and that it mutates easily. Those two items give me pause.

Lots of thoughts about this and little information to use to guide them but here goes.
-it is a form of influenza and even the flu shot doesn't cover all the bases
-I've had the flu a couple times and it has been during the summer months. Both times I couldn't walk to the other side of the house for a week and thought I was going to die both times and didn't care.
-I wonder, if given DJT's economic actions with China if they didn't decide to release this and cull their population - A yes here would not shock me. China does some nasty shit.
-Can we somehow cause this thing to mutate to only affect democrats? Ok, I'm off the deep end now.

    5. So, a guy that sits 5 feet away from me in IT has two kids in college at Miami University in Oxford, OH. He was there over the last weekend and it has come to light that 2 or more cases or suspected coronavirus have been found there. They have a large Asian presence there.

This thing can come at you without you least suspecting it.

Still I'm not overly worried. These pandemic scares seem to come fairly often though nothing wrong with being cautious.

  2. Man, of all the things we need to worry about....
My Chinese homestay student of 3 years ago is over there...not in that province, but he emailed me to stay safe! "Wear a mask" Ya..right. Sure enough, today at the grocery store I saw a woman wearing a mask..the third I've seen in a week. SARS was scary as hell and it's gone...I hope this does the same...and quick!

    1. Z, the virus can live on things people touch for days too. Given that a person is contagious for the 10-14 day incubation period without symptoms, the numbers coming out of China have to be complete BS.

  3. Early reports are that it is more than airborne transmission.. The virus can remain alive for up to five days on objects such as door nobs.. That and the long incubation period gives me pause and concern.... one thing that will finish Trump is if this thing gets out of hand. I heard Trump's team today.. Azar heading it up and I was not impressed.. No one from that province should have been allowed here since day one....
I too had the flu in 1957 and barely came through it alive... ended up with pneumonia.....

    1. Bunk, as I just said to Z, the numbers coming out of China have to be total BS. They have to be much higher that what China is saying.

It occurs to me that the thing started near to Hong Kong too. Let's see - problem with Hong Kong protests and demands for freedom. Would China go biological on them? I think so. The world would not be happy with China if they did another crush everyone with tanks thing again. Bad for business.

  4. dangit... I have a few upcoming travel plans. I don't know if wrapping myself in cellophane is an effective deterrent, but it sure frustrates the TSA.

    1. That'd be a good start Franco. Long as DJT is down in Mar-A-Lago.
