Animals Are Not 'Just" Animals

.
.
They display almost every emotion that humans display.  That in itself removes any argument.

But in the case of some animals, their talent for abstract thinking also is evident.

He truly illustrates his ability to create art.  Here is his Gallery. I like all of his creations, but especially appreciate - Dolphin Pod, Purple Heron, Horse Jumper One, Purple Winged Dragon, Birds in Flight, and Grasshopper.

On the main page click on the link "Watch Cholla Paint".  It is obvious he is engaged in creating art pieces.

    Thank you -Thank you!!!
Cholla reminds me of my last bred-who is in the 'back yard' of my home...he moves rail road ties around- to keep busy-
    bet he could paint too-

  2. I don't know, Kid......the video wouldn't work so I couldn't watch.
It's a stretch, but who knows, maybe this horse meant those strokes on the purple heron to go where they did :-)
It's very cool to consider that..

  5. I'm a painter, so I'd even more like to see the video, but it didn't open for me..:-(
I trust you....I've just a little stunned. The horse has more talent than some 'other' contemporary painters! I love the purple heron.

  6. You know, Kid, I was just thinking about such amazingly smart animals..dolphins, Horses, some cats (believe it or not...smart enough to get up and look for the elephant which walked 'off' the TV screen to the right!), some dogs (smart enough to have looked off in a certain direction and bark out the window to get a friend to look there so they could pounce on a cookie he had on the arm of his chair!!)
Think of how affectionate even horses can be when they nuzzle a hand, etc......
can there be such affection (trust, consoling their owners like my cat did with me when I was sad) and understanding without a higher level of intelligence than many give animals credit for? I don't know...but this painting horse opens up all kinds of interesting aspects of intelligence, etc..

  7. A, I believe animals have a special kind of intelligence, not as good in some ways, but much better in others.

Take dogs who can sense when their owner is about to have an epileptic fit. Or sense an earthquake or serious weather coming on. Much more intelligent in some ways. I don't know why the put up with us really. :)
