All Ya Need to Know

This was Pre-Trump.  Personally, I believe Trump and family have committed themselves to make America something different for us.  The waters are treacherous, the navigation complicated, but when the majority wants to keep the status quo, what can you expect?  Nothing is easy, and restoring America at this point in time is going to be the hardest thing to do.

    1. Parson, I wouldn't argue a single point made by Mr Carlin except for the fact that this was pre-Trump and I do now believe DJT does not fit the standard political template.

I wonder what Carlin would think about DJT.

  2. I heard this a few days ago on a talk show and I was wondering how it applied to Trump.
Is Trump a dodge? I've heard people say (not suggest) that he's just a continuation.
No wall yet. NAFTA still here and USMCA may be worse. I don't agree, but obviously some people do.

    1. Ed, yea, there's enough misinformation sloshing out there to blanket a galaxy. The wall? He's getting it down wihthout congress. He's making headway on the illegal invasion without the help of congress. I hope most voters will come to see these things. I pay a lot of attention, likely I'm in the top 5% of attention payers.

If Trump was a democrat, the media would literally be having orgasms on camera.

  3. What we have to do in this country is stop searching for the perfect man. There was only one of those, and he was crucified for his goodness around 2,000 years ago. I would rather have a candidate with warts than a saint (as Obama saw himself). Sure, one has to have an ego to want to run for the presidency, but that self-confidence ought to be predicated on actual achievements. Looking at the field right now, there is only ONE who meets that bar: DJT. What makes Buttigieg think that he has what it takes to be president? What gives Kamala Harris the idea that she can lead our nation? By the way, I think this all emanates from giving out blue ribbons for showing up. Carlin had the unique ability to see through the smoke and mirrors, yet in spite of his popularity, did many people actually listen to what he was saying? Nah.

About the American dream: I'd be happy if the government would just leave us the hell alone and do the things the Constitution requires of them.

    1. Mustang, you're echoing thoughts I've been having lately. Specifically, 'government' has shifted from running the country to controlling the people. Outside of DJT, who has mentioned anything about making America strong again? No one. Transgender bathrooms, wage equality, women's rights, LGBT activism, Name The Phobia, the ever popular Racism, Free Stuff! Noting to do with making America strong at home or in the world or dealing with foreign policy in a sensible way. Nothing by marketing to idiots.

  4. Sometimes celebrities get it right, and Mustang is right: most people do not listen to them. OF course, most celenbrities are leftists and get it wrong, so I guess this is a good thing.

Penn & Teller: good conservatives, pretty good magicians. You should watch their 're-cyling is bullshit' video. Spot on, but nobody takes it as gospel truth (which it is), since these guys are celebrities. Too bad.

Fredd, I've seen the recycling thing. It sure rings true. In our little slice of Heaven, you have to pay extra to recycle (we don't). Many trash companies are not even taking the recyclables to recycling centers, they just dump it in the landfills.

They've got the kids thinking they are very bad people if they don't like everyone, or don't support every asanine concept dealing with 'the environment', etc. Unfortunately, they'll be 60 years old before they know how much they've been lied to and fucked if even then, and they'll have their own generation x that buys all the bullshit to deal with. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Taking a chance on being called conceited, I'm going to say I was very stupid in my younger years, but I was Never as stupid as these kids are. Kids being up to age 40 or so.

    2. Ya know, when I used to get stoned and stupid, I had to hide it and try and act normal.
      Now it's accepted behavior.

  5. Recycling scam: just open your eyes and do the math. Big giant diesel truck with custom rigged machinery on it, cost of unit is likely quarter of a million bucks, TWO guys on it pulling down $80 large a year plus bennies, diesel costs of this thing getting 1 mpg and it runs around all day. Plus garaging it, maintaining it and then replacing it after 4 years, these costs are ginormous. It pulls up to your driveway and empties your recycle bin of its four coke cans, and some cardboard. This foolishness can't possibly even come close to breaking even. Were it not for communities subsidizing this scam, it would collapse into bankruptcy in two days. And yes, most of these scams collect your carefully separated recylables, put it into separate collection bins, and at the end of the day when nobody is looking, dump it all into a landfill.

    Only idiots recycle.

    1. The feds have not been focused in running America for a long long time. Imo, it's like this - politicians do things to get re-elected. Back around 1960, a lot of people had a bead on reality which kept the politicians in check to some extent. Today, they know the voters don't know their ass form a hole in the ground so they feel free to do and say whatever they want.

  9. I know what Carln's sayng there, and he's probably right, but did he HAVE to lard nearly evey senetnece with the raunchiest kind of gutter trash talk?

I've read the complaints above that said, that even though his observations and warnings were right on the money, no one took him seriously enough to get any material benefit from his wisdom.

I have a theory about that: I believe Carlin's appeal to the masses was NOT based on hi intelligene or the truths he imparted but much more on the NOVelty f being able to to THEATER and ear someine on a STAGE talk the high school boys talk in a locker room or aming themselves ina 'clubhouse.

What FUN to hear a balding adult man wth a fringe of gray hair getting PAID to say OUT LOUD and ONSTAGE things you'd never want your mother, your father, or your teachers to catch YOU saying!

So, I suspect the IMPORTANT things Carlin said were probably either MISSED or IGNORED, because everyone was kind of mesmerized by his potty mouth

After all how many times, even today, can you go to a theater and hear someone talk about Uncle Sam FUCKING YOU in the ASS with his BOG RED WHITE and BLUE POLE –– or whatever the hell Carlin said?

    1. Franco, Agreed that Carlin would have made more hay with much less profanity. You're not the first one to point that out. He must have been a lenny bruce fan.

Also, we have to realize that "What can any of us do about it?" Education continues to suck and popular culture continues to swirl down the drain. In addition and more importantly, close to 50 % of voters seem to support this shit.

In closing, I think things could get better if the vast majority knew how much government - federal, state, and local - were fucking them every minute of every day.
