A-ight, Who's Up For Some Math Genius ?

Give me a four digit number.  At this point I will give you a number
Then you give me another 4 digit number
I give you a 4 digit number
You give me a 4 digit number
I give you a 4 digit number
Add up all the numbers and it will equal the number I gave you in step one.
We can do this with as many people who offer a number. We can do it with multiple people and multiple numbers as long as the final number remains with the person who submitted the first 4 digit number.

Example:

You give me a number

-----4729, I give you a Final Number #####

Me--####
You-####
Me--####
___________________
Add em up.  The total will be the number identified above as Final Number,

To make it readable, every day I will summarize everyone's numbers like so:

Person 1

Then after all is done, I'll give you the answer to the magic.  It's a great ice breaker.

      IMP, You're not supposed to know until we get to the end, which is one more number from everyone and one more from me, then we add em up.

      It's impressive and more so when you do it for someone in person because it is very quick and you can see I'm not sitting around with a calculator or even thinking hard.

    Ok, Not sure if the remaining folks want to keep going SO - here is how this trick works.

    Obviously, it is a lot more impressive in person. Next time you're around someone, here is what you do.

    Pencil and paper

    Ask them to write down a 4 digit number.

    At this point, Say they give you 3176.
    You take another piece of paper and write down 23174, fold it over and hand it to them and tell them to put it in their pocket. What you did was to subtract 2 from the number they gave you. Then you took the 2 you subtracted and moved it all the way to the left.
    3176 - 2 = 3174. Take the 2 and put it left of the 3174 to get 23174.

    Ask them for another 4 digit number. Makes it more impressive as they have given you the first 2 numbers.

    Say they give you 1075.

    Write 1075 below the 3176, Now you have written
    3176
    1075

    Subtract 1075 from 9999 and write the answer below 1075. to do it quickly, subtract each of the 4 individual numbers and write the answer down. 1 from 9 is 8, 0 from 9 is 9, 7 from 9 is 2, 5 from 9 is 4

    Now you have:

    3176
    1075
    8924 (9999-1075 = 8924)

    ask them for another 4 digit number, they give you 8077

    Now you have:

    3176
    1075
    8924 (9999-1075 = 8924)
    8077, subtract 8077 from 9999, and get 1922, write it below 8077 and tell the person to add up the 5 numbers


    Now you have:

    3176
    1075
    8924 (9999-1075 = 8924)
    8077
    1922 (9999 - 8077 = 1922)

    When they add up the numbers the answer will be equal to the number you wrote on the paper and handed to them.
