Naw... Nothing Out There !

Nothing At All !

Click the image for a high resolution version. Click again to make it large enough to explore. Almost every dot of light is a galaxy. A googleplex to the power of a googleplex of googleplexes of Earth's could fit in this tiny dot of the sky.

A googleplex is a 1 with a hundred zero's after it.

  2. Opus. I like the fact that it's completely unfathomable.

As far as science fiction, I'm Ooooold school :).

I enjoyed reading Robert Heinlein's Glory Road.

And some Robert Sheckley. Both named Bob. Hmmm.

The Sheckley novel that I remember was about an unwitting Earthling that had won the 'intergalactic space prize' but who was confused with the gentleman from another planet that was the true winner.
When the lottery commission realized they'd made a mistake (It was the Earthling's responsibility to know his way home) they did a search of planets based on his description of Earth and came up with an almost countless number of possibles.
They sent him off with various devices that could transport from one 'Earth' to the next in search of his real home and help him with various things along the way. I won't give the ending away in case you happen to read this one. Pretty entertaining. Sorry, I don't know the name of it but there are many listed on Amazon. I'd think a lot of his novels are enjoyable and many are available on Amazon.

  8. Admiral, We just watched the space station fly over. What a small tiny place we dwell within.

I'll tell ya, I'm with Stephen Hawking; We should shut the hell up when it comes to inviting alien species down here.

Words fail us - as they always do when comtemplating God's creation.
