That the best card mechanic in the world was blind before he started learning how to do it at 5 years old. He also became a black belt in Karate while blind. - Short version - Longer version that I personally found really interesting.
PS - If you don't want to watch the long version, start that mother up around 27:00 and watch how Richard controls the cards from a deck shuffled by the interviewer. Unreal as if it wasn't already.
My first husband taught me how to be a (minor) card mechanic. I was pretty dang good at dealing seconds and bottoms, a good Las Vegas riffle, and killing hole cards. It takes a LOT of practice. Now all I do is play solitaire.
This Turner is very, very good. Always in control.
Turner sure is right about PROCRASDTNATION and LAZINESS being the worst enemes of all mankind, but I could practice shuffling cards till my fingers bled, and observe Turner at close range for DECADES and never understand how the hell can do what does?
Correction - he was 9 when his sight started to go south.

Franco, he is so good he always knows where every card is in the deck.
DeleteFranco, I just watched this again. And after Penn and Teller wash the deck he still comes through. Truly unbelievable talent.
