Growing up my father built a room off the garage with a large telescope. The roof of this room was made up of two garage doors that slide apart and the telescope pointed up between them. Growing up was exciting in the evenings. Thanks for the memories.
Bunk, I think I've kept up on some of the physics, but yea, I'm also more turned on by the images and imagining just what might be out there.
The colors are always representing various elements such as oxygen-blue, sulfer-orange, hyodrogen-red, helium-green, etc. It depends on how the photo processor decides how to color the elements but the above is almost always true. This is in relation to the composition of nebulas mostly. Star color (red, blue, yellow) is a different matter and generally related to age and/or motion toward or away from us.
The beauty of space really is breathtaking, but what blows my mind is the distances involved. It tells me that deep space is beyond the reach of human kind without generations of traveling colonists.
I can never believe how many things there are in the skies! Notice from my vocabulary that I have a perfect grasp of the subject!! :-)
ReplyDeleteZ, "Things"?
DeleteZ, and that is barely a pin prick on the sky in size.

ReplyDeleteOdie - Lucky man !
DeleteMost of this is beyond my band width but I love the colors... just a simple person who likes pretty things!

ReplyDeleteMustang, Yes, we're not going anywhere. Especially with Einstein's speed limit being just under the speed of light.
DeleteThis hunt for an Earth-like planet is very absurd.
