If Only This Was More True Today.

I received this in an email and I pass it on to you.

"A palindrome reads the same backwards as forward. This video reads the exact opposite backwards as forward. Not only does it read the opposite, the meaning is the exact opposite.

This is only a 1 minute 44 second video and it is brilliant. Make sure you read as well as listen -- forward and backward.

This video was submitted in a contest by a 20-year old. The contest was titled "u @ 50" by AARP and the video won second place. When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause.

"So simple and yet so brilliant."

    1. Very Moving for me Opus. There are plenty of young women on both sides and I wonder who will win out.

  2. Very clever.

I do, however, have a bone to pick with some of the 'reverse', or 'opposite' prose here: environmental destruction is NOT the norm NOW. It is the exception. So if environmental destruction is not the norm now, how can it 'no longer' be the norm in 30 years?

Additionally, if you can tell your boss that he is not important to you, good luck getting ahead there, pal, or perhaps even remaining employed there. There should certainly be a balance between work and home, but at most it should be around 50/50, or at least that's what the boss should hear.

    1. Fredd, I mostly agree with your critique. But she's 20 and has had 20 years of communist propaganda stuffed into her ears. It's a wonder these young people can think at all.

I wouldn't be as hard as you are on the boss thing. I took it to mean family is just more important, and jobs are like fish in the sea more or less. I make the assumption that any intelligent person will maintain the work environment as necessary.

Hope the weekend is a great one up there in Gotham.

    2. Kid:

      I get your point.

Still, this 20-something year old has some serious re-training required on her 'green' thing, as she's got that all wrong. And I agree: maintain your work environment, but that maintenance thing doesn't include marching into your boss' office and start jibber jabbering about how he/she and his/her company come second. Sure, it indeed comes second just between you and me and that mouse in my pocket, but the boss doesn't want to hear it. That's all I'm saying.

Oh, to live in Gotham, one can only dream. In Gotham City, you have at least some hope of the good guys prevailing in the end. Commission Gordon will take a look around at the chaos that the Joker and The Penguin are causing, flick on the Bat Light, and Whap! Zing! Bam!!! Batman comes out of the Bat Cave, kicks some Bat ass, and the evil doers slink back into their sewers whence they came.

Here in Chicago, there's a warrant out for Batman's arrest. The Joker and The Penguin have weekly meetings with Rahm Emanuel as how to best divvy up the tax payer's money, and in exchange for bringing the murder rate down to acceptable levels, like around 35 a month instead of 42, Rahm will award the Joker and The Penguin portions of the city to squeeze out as much drug, gambling and prostitution money as they can.

Of course, the bad guys don't always keep their word, and the murder rate tends to get a bit out of hand now and again, but hey, this ain't Gotham City, it's Chicago.

  3. The fact that she composed the piece so it would read correctly forward and backward shows that she can work with both the left and right side of her brain-thus- she is brilliant- and - when she starts self studying- she will erase the years of Dark Side educational propagandist ---

    1. Carol-CS, Yes, I agree, and once a person is on the right track, which is to reject the popular beliefs, then it's just a matter of doing the research and thinking for yourself.

      I'd say she'll make it.
