Terminator? It's Here Right Now !

Yikers.  Will these be programmed to fight wars and otherwise kill people?

You can bet your ass.

  1. Not to get too depressing, but since we're raising a generation of young people who'd do anything but fight for AMerica, maybe this robot thing is just what this country needs! :-(

    1. Z, well I don't have the military background to make much of a pro-con case, but I think they will absolutly be used anywhere force is needed. Robocop, military, rescue situations. Long list I suppose.

  2. By ceding our prerogatives to ROBOTS we are phasing out any need whatsoever for OUR existence.

This started with the Assembly line, an has only gotten worse and worse since Henry Ford developed more "efficiency" in mass producing factory-made products.

I know you think we'll still have jobs repairing and maintaining the robots, but I have read that with rapid advances in "AI" the automata will soon be bab;ebto THINK faster than WE can, anticipate their own needs, and REPAIR THEMSELVES without ny help from US.

Besides all that, Evil People –– like the Defecrats and the Red Chinese –– will soon be able to PROGRAM monster robots to kill US in wholesale lots. WE will be completely DEFENSELESS against these soulless, enormously powerful killing machines.

I read Orwell while still in high school. It made a deep and lasting impression on me. The guy was a super-pessimist –– the quntessential cynic –– very depressing –– BUT –– when you look at where we are today –– I'm very much afraid his horrible visioit really was prophetic.

    3. Yea Franco. I also read 1984 in high school. They throw those kinds of books into bonfires now.

If they manage to get single payer healthcare that will turn this country into a shithole.

    4. A great irony, Kid, is that I believe Orwell considered himself a SOCIALIST.

But wen i read 1984 it had Soviet Union and Red China glaring at me from every page. Same with Animal Farm.

    5. In 1984 and Animal Farm, Orwell indeed patterned these stories upon utopian dictatorships (as they were born). The only reason that, while many of his prophesies have come to pass, not ALL of his pessimism has taken root is that in those novels, the farm animals and the servants to Big Brother did not have guns. And that is a game changer, and one that will impede any malevolent movement designed to enslave Americans: we are armed to the teeth.

THere are no guns in the hands of Hong Kong residents, or precious few, and a whole butt load of guns in the hands of the communist Chinese mainlanders. Hong Kong free society as they knew it is doomed, sooner or later. Probably sooner.

The great socialist paradise of Venezuela is now a complete shit hole: none of the Venezuelan revolutionaries had guns, or precious few of them. See how this works?

The U.S. is immune to that sort of thing because of the 2nd Amendment. And only because of the 2nd Amendment. That is why Beto is toast. Americans, much to the woe of Barry Obama, will indeed cling to their guns and bibles. It's what makes us free.

    6. Franco, Animal Farm to me relates to American Politics, or maybe anyone's political elite.

    7. Fredd, yes sir. Some woman went to O'Rourke's last rally and gave him a good spankin. Yelling at him that the shooting situation is a Mental Health issue, not a gun issue and that his ideas are Bullshit - and more. That big a does of reality is what maybe caused him to close his campaign and quit. Probably has a lot of $$$ that he is now free to spend on booze and hookers.

    8. Fredd, Guns or not, they get single payer, we're all F*D, especially if you vote repub. Those death squads will check your voting history and if you vote repub, your health care request will go in file 13, never to be seen again.

    2. Seriously, I kept thinking of a Yul Brynner robot and why in the world would you trust it to not shoot you in the head.

    3. Bunk, I wouldn't trust it any more than I'd trust a Tesla on Autopilot.

  5. IMO, at such time as the American people choose (by their selection of representatives) to defend their country with robots, rather than through the expression of civic duty, courage, and personal commitment, then they will have surrendered their moral right to justice for themselves.
