Our Idiotic Absurd World - Plastic Bag Bans in the USA

Do you support the banning of micro thin plastic bags for hauling your groceries out of the store ?

Check out all the places that have banned them at this link.

Congratulations !

This is what happens when morons put morons in charge.

Why do I say this?

Well, next time you do some shopping, look at what you're hauling out of the store.  That's right, significant amounts of the products are encased in plastic which is a million times thicker, Ok, maybe 100 times...

How easily they play you with all this environmental BS.

If that isn't enough for you, this report tells us 90% of the plastic pollution come from 10 rivers.

By analyzing the waste found in the rivers and surrounding landscape, researchers were able to estimate that just 10 river systems carry 90% of the plastic that ends up in the ocean.

Eight of them are in Asia: the Yangtze; Indus; Yellow; Hai He; Ganges; Pearl; Amur; Mekong; and two in Africa - the Nile and the Niger.

You can also find pictures of plastic rivers flowing into the sea from places like Haiti.  I'm sure we can add places like Puerto Rico to that list as well.

Folks, the USA is not polluting the world.  You might ask yourself why no one talks about the polluters.  Answer: the chances of getting money out of them is Zero.

As Lou Rawls would sing - "Good God Y'all !"

  2. You are SO right, Kid. In Europe, I remember we sometimes used kind of 'knit' bags and kept that bag and used it all the time...but that's easier when you can shop every day or every other day, a little bit at a time, not the huge 'shoppings' we usually do here.. But ya.. ..the Left complains about plastics, then removes the bar soap from its thin paper wrapper and 99% of soaps now are in HEAVY PLASTICS.....that's a solution? God, I hate that picture of the trash near the water......horrid.

  4. Thank you for that link. Did not know.

A kissing cousin to the plastic-in-the-water argument is that birds are "feeding" their young plastic. Presumably they don't know better. But the implication is wicked men are forcing them to this and killing birds. Wrong! They look for hard indigestible material like gravel for the gizzard. Away from land some birds find plastic. They aren't EATING it. They eventually spit it out. People believe this stuff.

I don't even need to post a link to it. I'm sure all remember the great George Carlin's "plastic" monologue. :)

    1. Baysider. Yes and yes. I also read where bees are using plastic to build part of their honeycombs as the material works much better than what they were using.

People generally seem to Love to believe we are harming nature much more than we are. Human nature based on people being overly self-important.

Re: Carlin, yes, maybe the Earth did want plastic for itself and didn't know how to make it... needed us. :-)

  5. Just to throw in a little of the absurd, related to the "This is what happens when morons put morons in charge" theme. "California’s Third Appellate District Court of Appeal ruled at the end of May that bees could be protected under a state law to protect endangered species because bees meet the state’s legal definition of fish." I did not make that up. This is not April 1. This is California - still a fine state if you look past the lunatics who run most of it.

    1. No surprise there at all Baysider. (Federal judges no longer required to have biology knowledge eh? haha).
Also, is there anything at all left that California does not believe causes cancer? :)

Was emailing with a friend recently and we both remarked how we have looked at young people while out and about lately and thought "Man, they have no idea what is coming".

    3. Gotta keep it real for ourselves LSP. We can't help anyone else unless they ask for it. Not many of those around. We must realize 70+ million critters actually voted for this crap - and probably will again. It's their right, their choice. I'm looking to insulate as much as possible until I take that big ride.

The tax on plastic bags: Fairfax County, Virginia, 14 September 2021.

    I left on September 10, 2021!

Here in Indiana, there are no bans on the plastic bags from the grocery store, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. Good thing for me! I have loads of small trash cans, and those bags are the liners thereof.
