H/T Mustang
I got this in an email.
Here is the text that came with the image.
I have never seen or heard of this memorial. This Tear Drop 9/11 Memorial is located in Bayonne , New Jersey , right across from New York City . On the other side of the Hudson from The Statue of Liberty.
This 100 foot tall monument was given to the U.SA. back in 2006 by the Russian people in memory of all those that lost their lives on September 11, 2001.
The break in the cracked facade forms the shape of the two towers.
The giant suspended tear drop symbolizes all the tears the world had shed in response to this terrifying day.
At the base are recorded the names of all the people who perished. Yet we do not hear about it.
Click this link to see it on one of the various viewing points on Google Street View
If you're not familiar with street view, you can use your mouse to drag the image around, up, down, or zoom in and out.
That is the stupidest "memorial" I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteDrail, yea it isn't all that impressive but it does have the names on it. That's something over time.
DeleteI guess the official policy of the U.S. government is to put the events of 9/11 out of everyone's collective memory as soon as possible. That way, the next time it happens, it will be like, you know, the first time.
ReplyDeleteMustang, plus the government doesn't want us getting patriotic and stuff.
DeleteWhy Bayonne NJ? Out of sight out of mind? It was thoughtful in my mind. Even in the bad times through these past years, Russia has given us warnings about potential terrorists. It is always a footnote in the story. Just saying.
ReplyDeleteBunk, there may be a specific reason for Bayonne. Don't know.
DeleteAlso, Russia did specifically warn us about the 9-11 attack within a short time of it happening. They were very specific about how it would be done.
Also people alerting intel agencies about moslems taking flying lessons and not concerned with landing. Put even just those two together.
Intentionally ignored or just supreme incompetence.
I saw this a while back and wondered the same thing "Why haven't I seen this EVER?" Russia?? In love and solidarity? :-) As IF?!
ReplyDeleteZ, Well, you have to take what Putin says with caution, but I do think he meant it when he said the USA was a great country and he wished we'd just leave Russia alone. They are a pretty Christian nation and they don't have an islam problem that you can tell either. Maybe just not reporting though.
DeleteI think Russia spends something like 4 billion on defense while we spend 800 billion. Nukes are all they really have of consequence. If it comes to mutually assured destruction then it's over anyway.
