Self Driving Cars?

Nope

Self Driving Drones

If successful, in short order you will see beefed up drones able to carry an entire family of 4.

  1. I have a car that when I ask it to "Call Bonderenka Home..." answers
    "Call Baba Fett Gnome?"
I'm not trusting it to drive me anywhere.

    1. ED, When I ask Siri what she is wearing she often says "I don't know but it doesn't come off". Well I wont' be customer 1.0 either.

  2. Self-driving cars are nothing new. I had one back in the 1960's. It was so smooth, many a nite I didn't even remember the ride home.

    1. Ron, I have had some of those experiences as well.

I have used 83 of my 9 lives, that's for sure,.

  3. I dunno. If a pimple-faced kid in his basement can hack my email account, I'm not sure how good I'd feel in one of these at 10,000 feet. I'd settle for the robot dog.

    1. Good Point Mr Blade but it won't matter. Today's kids will jump at this stuff.

In fact, I hate traffic so much I may have even tried it after they're out there for a couple years but I'll be out of the game by then.

Speaking of which have you seen any of the youtube Russian driving (crashing) videos. Some of those are brutal. Man they've got some bad drivers over there.

    2. Not too happy about the self-driving cars or drones, but I'd jump at the chance of having Rosie, the robot maid, live at my house.

  4. We'll have flying cars before long, and it will happen the moment some brainiac figures out how to shut off gravity.

It's that dang gravity that screws up the advance of flying cars. We are now only able to fly because we can power over air with high speed. Gravity is still turned on, however, and anything that goes wrong with either the craft, the human flying the craft or something exterior to the craft, really bad things happen, usually fatal things. And only highly trained people can expect to fly our current air machines and live.

Once we figure out this gravity thing, then ordinary folks can fly. Not before. Then flying cars will be everywhere.

    1. I beg to differ Fredd.
      - you can buy a small plane that has a parachute system that brings the entire plane down safely.
      - there may be some flying cars, but not many. The main problem is you need a runway to take off and land so commuting to work is notagonna happen. You could with a drone though, and it will have such a parachute system.
      - hey don't need to fly that high. Just high enough for the parachute to deploy in an emergency. Many fewer people dying in these things than on the roads of Russia.
-I hope they make them sound like the Jetson car.

    2. Still same problem: long runways, parachutes, all of that are to avoid that nasty gravity problem. Actually, gravity itself is not the problem. It's the impact with the ground after a fall of any height or high speed that gets you.

    1. C-CS, I'd give it a shot after sufficient debugging time. Especially with a parachute system.

  6. __ THE SMART CAR POLKA __

I don't want it, you can have it
    It's too smart for me
    It's too fast for me
    Much too fast for me.

I don't want it, you can have it
    It's too fast for me
    It's too smart for me
    Much too smart for me.

It's too fast, it's too smart
    Far too smart for me.

Can it climb up a hill?
    Yes! Just watch it go!
Has it got its own will?
    Tell me it ain't so!

Can it hold our whole troop?
    Sure, it even serves soup.
Could it possibly safely carry me?
    Oui! Oui! Oui!
