I'm Telling You, Girls Are Seriously Into Cars That Can Go 1,000 Mph +

Or Maybe what they are really interested in is Wing Commander Andy Green who piloted the Thrust SSC to greater than the speed of sound on land and also will pilot the Bloodhound.

Bloodhound SSC

Thrust SSC -  Can't find the summary vid I was looking for, but the car would go on to exceed 763 mph.

  1. GOOD NEWS ! GOOD NEWS! GOOD NEWS! GOOD NEWS!

FIDEL CASTRO is DEAD at LAST! HALLELUJAH! YIPPEE! and THREE CHEERS!

    Life's great, life's grand,
    Future all planned,
No more clouds in the sky,
    How'm I ridin'? I'm ridin' high!

    Someone I hate,
    Can't now dictate,
    So long, FIDEL goodbye!
    How'm I ridin'? I'm ridin' high!

    Floating on a starlit ceiling,
Doting on the cards I'm dealing,
    Gloating because I'm feeling
    So hap-hap-happy I'm slap-happy!

    So ring bells, sing songs,
    Blow horns, beat gongs,
    CASTRO did finally die,
    How'm I ridin'? I'm ridin' high!

    2. FT, So, do you think life will get better for the Cubans ?

    3. Change is slow to happen in Cuba, but it will happen faster under Trump than Obola. Meanwhile, I'm dancing in the street as I write this.

    4. In reply to your post title, I prefer space ships. They're faster than most Earth vehicles ;)

    5. Cube, I know little of Cuba other than people trying to escape on rafts made of empty water bottles across shark infested water.

I find space ships pretty scary actually. If I ever end up in space, I hope all aliens are sex crazed females who are great cooks...

    6. Cube, PS, NO positive change happened under obola. I had that thought several times as I meandered around the house taking care of nagging little chores. Nothing. Nothing that cost us 10 trillion beside. It's mind boggling, especially when you consider he has an approval rating greater than 12 %. 13% negroes less the 10% of them who have integrated.

  2. I have observed the subtle exposure of the debauchery of the roman church via Michelangelo's works in the Sistine Chapel -- Goya was more overt in his exposures--I wonder what artist is going to shed the light on the roman church and its pope of today !!

the pope grieves the death of castro-

  3. That's right, Kid, but I believe it is up to each of us who is the least bit aware of these things to do our best to find Truth [and I DON'T mean "facts" lined up in OPPOSITION to those we don't like or trust] and do whatever we can to serve the highest principles and noblest goals in each of our daily transactions however small.

Some have called this practice "religion," and Isuppose it is, but unless we choose to serve God, who is the embodiment and perfect expression of Truth and Love, all we can do is stumble blindly from crisis to crisis suffering and grumbling every step of the way.

As has often been said, "It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness."

I think we make a great mistake when we think we have to strive towards being "significant" or to do something "important." That in essence is Vanity, and it only leads to trouble. If we happen to achieve significance, that's great, but A) Don't expect to be applauded or rewarded for it, and B) Don't think it should entitle you to any special consideration.

If that sounds cynical, please forgive me, because I think adopting a cynical attitude puts us n the Express Route to Hell.

I think it helps to remember this:

"The Great are rarely famous, the famous rarely Great."

    1. FT, Agree. Heroes always call themselves normal people who have done nothing special.

The Great are never satisfied with their performance.

  4. Sorry to have detoured from the subject of your post, Kid. Call me a Luddite or an old fuddy duddy, if you like, but in my worldview Technology has far outpaced –– and far exceeded –– its usefulness in its original goal of improving the quality of life for the average person. It is no longer our servant; instead it has become our Master.

I'm often reminded of a Pennsylvania Dutch saying these days:

The farther ahead I go, the behinder I get."

That usually applies to the Wage-Price Inflation Spiral as an argument against Unionism and other Leftist schemes, but it works with robotization and excessive speed as well.

I mean even the airplane has lost its appeal –– at least for me. It may be wonderful t be able to traverse entire continents in a few short hours, but the absolute HELL one must go through at each end of the journey makes Horseback, the Conestoga Wagon and the Stagecoach look almost attractive in comparison. ;-)

    1. FT, I'm damn glad I don't fly anymore. Did a lot of it in my last job pre-2001.

In the interest of this not being obvious about the subject of the post - More of the Bloodhound SSC project is getting kids interested in STEM learning and practice and less about actually running the car and making a new record. It was supposed to run in 2012, and now I wonder if it will ever run actually. I think it will, but probably not until they feel they've gotten every inch out of motivating the kids.
