Music Time

I miss tunes like this.  This was the popular music in the 60's.  Optimistic. Peace. Love. It's All Good Bro....

"Better get ready gonna see the light
Love, love is the answer and that's all right
So don't you give up now so easy to find
Just look to your soul and open your mind"

That's what I'm talkin about.

There are some freaks out there trying to associate the tune with crystal meth, But:

It’s unlikely that “Crystal Blue Persuasion” would refer to “crystal meth” because before 1970, meth was in white pill form, and not the crystal version popular today. James says he got the song idea from the Bible:

“I took the title from the Book of Revelations in the Bible, reading about the New Jerusalem. The words jumped out at me, and they’re not together; they’re spread out over three or four verses. But it seemed to go together, it’s my favorite of all my songs and one of our most requested.”

    1. IMP, I have this absolutely Perfect image of where I was when I head it the first time. Summer day, driving back from summer school in a green 65 chevy bel air, coupla summer school dudes from the neighborhood in the car that I'm driving back home. I've always likes it too.

  2. I LOVE that song....Kid, it's funny how so many songs remind us of being in a car; I guess it's because that's mostly the place we listened to the radio!? This is really a memory-invoking song, isn't it. And ya...the days before CRYSTAL didn't have to METH!
    OH, for those days........

    1. Z, I'd say that's exactly it with the Where. I was either in my car or my bedroom listening in the teenage years. (Beach Boys - In My Room)

It really is such a reflection of how culture has changed for the worse. Not everyone, but still.

  3. Yeah, they don't make 'em like that anymore, Kid. They really knew how to ink some toe tappers back in the day, where you could tune in to Casey Kasem's Top 40 Countdown on your factory AM radio in your 1966 Olds Cutlass. You know the AM unit, the one with 6 big black buttons that in order to save a radio station, you manually tuned in to one you liked, then jacked a big ol' button out and jammed it back in to 'save' that location.

Ah, the good ol' days. When the Moody Blues ruled the air waves. Of course back then, as now, I didn't quite get it: my first 45 record I ever bought was 'Sugar Sugar,' by the Archies.

    1. I can't think of any AOW. Seems like it popular garbage that won't live to see next year, or ditto Rap, popular/modern country where every song sounds the same, or today's "rock" that sounds lot like modern country except the guitars just make a gush-gush-gush sound while the drums are over-amplified and the singers just scream kinda boring lyrics. No depth of music at all like the 60's and 70's.
