  1. Hey Kid, Freedom is not free; it seems the world, certainly this Country has forgotten this great lesson. Great video - thanks

  2. I was in the U.S. Army, and not Roger Moore's British garrison.

For us grunts in boot camp, it wasn't 'Tommy this and Tommy that,' I rather recall it was 'f'ing maggott this, and f'ing maggott that.'

Of course that was a long time ago, and things may have changed by now. I kind of doubt it, though.

  3. DeanO, It's a classic and sums it up nicely.

The same idiot who spit on the Coast Guard member at one of these occupy things would be the first to demand protection from the very same person 2 seconds later should there be danger in the wind.

  4. Opus, As stated it's from 1892, but it's timeless and will always be true.

  5. Fredd, I missed out on the service. Broken leg, lots of metal parts.

But I always read the Tommy This and Tommy That as coming fro the citizen class to the troops.

I trust it got better for you. Hope it did. I sometimes wonder if I wasn't meant for Army Ranger. I was nuts enough. But not trying to say anything here - Just a passing thought from time to time.

  6. I've read the poem a few times but had never heard a dramatic reading.

In America, it comes from the political class...
