  1. Man..it's really like the guitar is part of him. I forget, Kid...have you seen Tommy in person? I hope so...Lady Madonna is like two guitars.......the melody and the backup melody the Beatles do. Astonishing. And you know I love the boogie! Thanks!

    1. Z, Yea I saw him 4-5 years in a row here in Cincinnati. He played a large high school auditorium. Hundreds but not thousands in the audience.
He really puts on a fantastic show. He once brought a new singer/guitar player along as a short opening act. the guy said he appreciated the audience listening to him as it is hard to listen to someone new, but that Tommy would be out in a minute and All hell would break loose. Yep. He played for around 3 hours each time. Different stuff all the time or played in new ways. I think he does a lot of ad-lib like n that boogie. Probably thought Hey, we don't want no clapping going on, I'll take care of that.

He has an instruction vid on youtube on how to play day tripper and madonna. In short it is play small sections very slowly building up speed over time until it's in tempo then move on to the next little piece. Probably took him a few weeks to get it the way he wanted.

      Here it is fwiw

    1. Tommy is the man Z.

Yea, I enjoyed those shows immensely. He is an incredible performer. Very personable. As he describes his mission in life "I play music and you get happy". Yep.

300 concerts a year around the world. Hell, i couldn't even do that much travelling let alone perform beside and he always holds an almost day long "master class" for local guitar players the day before each concert. Tireless. We're the same age.
