  1. It's beautiful, Kid. Lately though (don't you dare laugh at me) I've been thinking about the fact that the earth is just floating around with nothing to hold it up (yeah - I understand gravity, et al) I sort of stand back and see the earth from space, again with nothing holding it or any of the other celestial bodies where they are, and it scares the hell out of me. There's so much we can understand, without really understanding it. How could anyone not believe in God while pondering all of this?

    1. Adrienne. I'd never laugh at you unless you were in a clown suit. Yes, As I was bringing Little Bear (black cat par excellence) in from his usual morning grass eating habit, I'm looking at him, straight into his eyes, and I'm thinking of How can it be possible that a couple chemicals got together in a pond somewhere that resulted in the creation of all the creatures of Earth, including us, with such complicated structures and senses. Not to mention the universe itself. I think people have to be insane to think that this all just happened by accident.
I don't care about millions or years. Just as I don't believe an infinite number of monkeys pounding on typewriters could magically pound out War and Peace, word for word, page for page, I don't believe some chemical reaction resulted in the life we have and have had on Earth. No way, No how.

I'll say I'm more comfortable letting the physics of gravitational forces keep the Earth where it belongs :) We wouldn't be here otherwise.

Have you seen Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot? He kind of takes a world peace angle which is BS, but a lot of good points are made. We are a not even a speck of dust actually.

And another Carl Sagan point which I agree with - Physical size extends to infinity in both directions. Solar systems as atoms. Atoms as solar systems - in easy terms.

    2. Adrienne, What scares you exactly? If it's the end of times, personally, I'd welcome it from the viewpoint that (1) I can't do anything about it and (2) Seems like it might be a good time anyway. I'd be on the front porch in a chair, maybe a rocking chair, with a bottle of wine and any loved ones who cared to join me watching it all go down.

The hand of our Creator works wondrous things in heaven and in earth.

  4. God’s handiwork always leaves me speechless. I agree with Kid ... I welcome the end of times. It is time to put an end to human stupidity.

    1. Mustang, the volume of handiwork is simply beyond comprehension. And we specks on the speck of dust don't even know about the extent of content yet, nor will we for thousands of years, if at all.
The only thing to do is admire and wonder.

End times? Lots of ways to look at it imo. Earth went from Romans to dark ages and back again. Cycles. Tests. The ageless struggle between good and evil since day 1. Still it would not bother me to see fire and brimstone heading our way. Getting hit with an asteroid or a piece of the sun is majorly acceptable to months of the torture of a cancer death...And of course, the Rapture that follows - the final judgement day when everything is reconciled. Not the worst thing.

  5. I come here with good intentions and you sit there on your porch, in your rocking chair drinking wine and MOCK me?... just because I wear this old clown suit? As for the dead fox in the stars, is it too much to ask that PETA be sent the 2500 light years to check on him? Ooga Shocka, Kid! Happy New Year!

  6. DaBlade, I'm with ya on the PETA idea. :)

    Have a great year!

  7. I think there are things we're never going to understand, but it doesn't mean we can't marvel at them. That is, unless Hillary's outer space friends decide to explain them to us. You know like Carville, Podesta, Davis, Ickes, Blumenthal, Begala, Stephanopoulous, McAuliffe, etc. ;)

    1. Cube. Marvel yes, understand completely? No.

I have to admit I have never listened to any of theses assholes, but I don't think any of them have ever tried talking about intelligent subjects. It seems it is all - "right wing attack job" "When the trip was dangerous, send the 1st lady", "gimme your money" and "drop your pants" That's about all I've ever heard about democrats.

    2. You're right. Those above-mentioned creeps have nothing to say about anything earth-wise or space-wise. They're not worthy.
