Repost - I Wish They Were Doing This When I Was Young.

Speed is about 120, nominal down angle 15 degrees, about the average ranch house roof angle.

If you want to fly, here are some good guidelines to make the experience a lot safer.  Lots more Jokke Sommer on youtube.
If you can't find it, comment and I'll put some links in.

  1. I've never had a broken bone in my life. For good reason, too: back in the day, I considered it extremely risky to pop a wheelie on my Schwinn Stingray. Or even set foot on a skateboard. Tolerable risk for me was putting medium taco sauce on my Taco Bell crunchy taco. OOh, watch out....

And these Rocky the Flying Squirrel guys, that's just absolutely nuts. Insane.

    1. I was exactly the opposite Fredd. I'd have loved this. If you read the guidelines, you'll note that they don't get this close on the 1st flight. Certainly at least a few recon flights to make sure there are no surprises.

    1. Z, It sure looks like fun. And it would be much better to hit a tree than waste away of cancer eh? I'm keeping it as an option.

  3. But, don't get me wrong....it DOES look like, if you have the guts, that is one FABULOUS AMAZING thing to do.... be a BIRD! I'd love to do it....but I would be hoping for and aiming for the biggest tallest tree available just from sheer fear! :-)

    1. Z, you don't want to hit a tree at 120. :)

  5. I hesitate to refer to this sort of thing as "flying." If it is flying, it is only temporary. Actually, it is more like an exercise in avoiding catastrophes. What makes it seem very fast is proximity to things that can ruin your day. Not for long, though. Hitting a tree at 120 miles per hour would likely dismantle 90% of your body. The good news is that it wouldn’t hurt long. Note for Kid: the flying suit is key to the success of this kind of sport, so your idea to do it nude may not work out as well as you think. Talk it over with the smarter half before you take that first leap.
