Did you hear the snap of my heart breaking when I came to the part of his being executed? WHAT A GUY! What an amazing, optimistic, insistent, persistent, horrible guy to have as a POW :-) I hate that they won in the end, but we win for having heard of him at all. Thanks, Kid, good to know people like this exist. WHAT A REAL MAN...what a goofball singing like that for so long! The only good thing about his dying is no wife had to put up with his personality and maybe have a kid just like him! HAAA!!!
This fellow was one hell of a soldier. He’s someone who I would have liked to have a beer with. I may have to snatch what we know of Captain Versace for a post at Fix Bayonets in the future. Thanks, Kid, for alerting me to this story.
I'd love to buy the beers Mustang. You may find more about this gentleman on a search, but that site does a pretty good job of fleshing out the details.
Bunk, I'm a 'celebrate someone's life' kinda person when they pass and in that spirit, let's celebrate him. So many great people leave us far too early.
I'm glad this remarkable guy is getting better known s he can clear the name Versace.
Everytime of I think of the hideous specacle fashion mogul GIANNI VERSACE >https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Versace< has made of the name I feel like cringing in embarrassment for being part of the samespcies as he.
Looking at DONATELA VERSACE >https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donatella_Versace< longtime excutive and current boss of the outfit makes me want to throw up.
Thank you, Kid, for telling us about ROCKY –– a wonderful man every decent person on earth should have been proud to know.

ReplyDeleteI did hear that Z. Yes, as far as I know he didn't have a wife and family. If he did, I suspect he'd have prepared her/them for it before he left.
DeleteThere probably a few guys like this around but not many, and I wonder how many more will come when it becomes so obvious the feds abuse them so much.
