Capitalism - Socialism

A Practical Example.

2 years ago, the cable company had sneaked our monthly cost for Internet, Phone, TV, up to 184 bucks.  That got our attention.  We called and negotiated it down to 132.

Last year, we negotiated the bundle down to 106 a month.  It is currently at 106.

If you think we'd have been able to do that without competitive offerings  such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc, you are smoking something.

This is capitalism.  It has made our life better.  Capitalism makes your life better.  Someone give me an example of socialism that made their life better.  Well, one caveat - you have to be a working taxpayer.

  2. Under socialism, cable would be free.
And you wouldn't notice any change of content in the major news presentations.

    1. Ed, I'm sure you know nothing is free. If it was free, you'd be paying so much more for it through taxation it would make your head spin like a small moon orbiting Jupiter.

    2. My head is already spinning. :)

    3. Ed, I hope you're not uncomfortable. If so, a Bloody Mary or a glass of Cabernet Savignon may help. Or warm milk and cookies.

  3. Socialism always makes the tax payer poorer. The non-tax payer is always better off under socialism...in the short and medium term.

Of course, when you run out of other people's money, then everybody is worse off until after the revolution.

    1. Fredd, maybe we see a revolution in Europe as the EU falls apart?

    1. AOW, Absolutely. NHS in England falling apart, workers in France being told how long they will work, how much they will make, and the kind of vermin that will be placed into their neighborhoods that they will have to endure. And more. Socialism is worse than death.

    2. Kid,
According to my friends in the UK, the NHS works well IF the illness is acute and a case of immediate life or death. Probably to prevent bad optics with certain stats.

But a malady that can possibly be postponed and/or not immediately life threatening -- good luck getting attention in a timely manner. But when such patients die, the stats don't reflect poorly on the NHS.

    3. So, the stats are a propaganda game.

    4. AOW, propaganda for sure. The worst thing you could make socialism do is admit failure, so they lie about everything. Germany can't even report on the moslem carnage. They wouldn't let them report on the rapes at Cologne.
obama call islamic violence everything but, on and on.

Good speech by Trump that I happened to see today. Focused entirely on the important stuff with an extra focus on Supreme judges.

  6. When you decide to cast your vote for Hillary think of this;
Ambassador Stevens was brutally murdered, with his genitals cut off, he was sodomized and beaten and cut and stabbed dozens of times and then burned. He was drug thru the streets and left there This is from an eyewitness's testimony of a local Dr. who found the Ambassador's dead body in a ditch
