I always think back to my first "real" apartment in Houston. There was a little living room/dining room area, a tiny kitchen, and a normal sized bedroom with a small patio in back. I loved that apartment. Big windows in front and slider in back so it was super bright. But what I really remember was how few things I owned. A love seat, two director chairs, and a WWII trunk for a coffee table was the entirety of living room furniture. A wrought iron garden table and four chairs for dining room.
Now I look around and think, "Where the hell did all this "stuff" come from?" And I am far from a pack rat.
Adrienne, Very well explained. Yes, I was quite happy in my minimal apartment in my 30's. now I've got so much stuff I have to figure out how to get rid of and make a little money on it ! :-]
I've watched this vid 20+ times, always on Earth Day and sometimes in between and I still get choked up when George proclaims "We don't know how to take care of ourselves yet, we don't know how to care for one another and were gonna save the fukkin planet? Drills right down into how insane people are. I guarantee you every animal on the face of the planet has all this shit figured out much better than we do.
Same here, Kid. It's an annual tradition. Like listening to Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant on Thanksgiving. Always cracks me up. Thanks for the reminder.
I love George Carlin. I love his bit on "stuff." Since I'm doing major decluttering, that one really speaks to me.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be nice if the libtards just disappeared tomorrow.
That would be So nice. Imagine.
DeleteStuff is one that sticks in my head too.

DeleteI am with you two :-)
DeleteC-CS
C-CS - a common affliction then I take it.
DeleteSpot on post for today. Carlin is a favorite of mine. I miss him. I'd love to hear what he has to say about today's political arena.
ReplyDeleteCube, Here is what he would say.
DeleteTrump and a few others may be an outlier. We'll see.
Cube, I apologize for my ADHD. Thank you for the compliment.
DeleteNo worries. Carlin makes sense, even at his darkest, he's right. The fat cats don't care about us. We're on our own. Time will tell on Trump.
DeleteCube. Oggghhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm..
DeleteSeriously, Kid, what [expletive deleted] does that mean? Just give me a hint...
DeleteCube, The standard meditation inspired calm and happiness. This political stuff doesn't get me down.

ReplyDeleteMr Blade - My pleasure. I for one am honored to have contributed to have delivered the plastic for Mother Earth.
DeleteTruth Teller= Carlin
ReplyDeleteC-CS
C-CS, not to make a comparison but he is an observer like me. He's probably smarter as he has experienced a lot more I'd think.
DeleteEarth Day and a March for Science.
ReplyDeleteI'm not holding my breath waiting for the impact.
Ed, I'm no Einstein, not by a very long shot, but I have an inkling how he felt living among the rest of these morons.
