Dateline NBC, or 60 Minutes or some such other nonsensical click bait presentation that offers absolutely Nothing of value but that which collects 7 or maybe even 8 figures in advertising revenue...
Example. They are talking about Zelda in Gary, Indiana who works at the local sub shop and that has had her mailbox steamrolled over and the local government people won't do anything about it.
That's the level that these shows are on.
Who give a F? Who?
Well Ok, Here is a real live example from a google search of "dateline NBC"

Ok, Paige Birgfeld seems like a nice person but does anyone really care. Hell no, and what does Paige Birgfeld's death have on the world or even Anyone's life in America who isn't directly related to Paige Birgfeld (Who sure as shit don't need Lester Holt to talk about her so that her friends and family become aware of her condition) None of the rest of us need to know about Paige. Those of us who do most certainly will know about her without Lou's help.
Honestly. What kind of freakin nonsense is this? Les is using the death of a woman that none of us know for his own benefit. Someone tell Lou to go to hell. Ok, I will. Hey Les Go to Hell and try to come up with news that actually affects Americans, America, or even the Civilized world at large.
One example would be telling us how moslem vermin are turning the entire European Continent into a shit hole. Think that might be pertinent during this absurd immigration debate/fight ? K Les? Why don't you go take a course in how not to be Pathetic. Oh, right, no American colleges or Universities offer such courses.
No man is an island,
ReplyDeleteEntire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in all mankind.
Therefore, ask not for whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
~ John Donne (1573-1631)
[NOTE: These famous words were not originally written as a poem. The passage is taken from the 1624 Meditation 17, from Devotions Upon Emergent Occasions written entirely in prose.]
FT, Well, that's another way to look at it.
DeleteFT, I care about the deatch or hardship of other decent individuals on this Earth. I just don't care for revenue based entities making hay of it. Joe Kenda excluded.
DeleteI look upon a program about Zelda's unfortunate death as a cautionary tale. I try to not do the things Zelda did that led to her demise. The part I find most interesting is the forensic aspect of the case. How they ended up solving the mystery of Zelda's death and catching her killer. That's what matters to me.
ReplyDeleteBTW Lou Holts just called. His ears are ringing something awful ;)
Cube, I love crime drama's too. I really love the show Joe Kenda, Homicide Hunter. Story teller par excellence.
DeleteKenda is rough and tough but he's got a good sense of humor, too. In October there was a commercial with the husband standing outside of the bathroom in a striped prisoner costume. He was calling for his wife to hurry or they'd be late for the Halloween party. The door opens and out steps Kenda speaking in a woman's voice and takes the husband's hand. The husband is shocked at how realistic his wife's costume is and they walk off hand in hand. Funny!
DeleteCube. THAT's funny - And unexpected.
DeleteFreeThinke: That's one of my favorite poems. Thanks for bringing it up.
ReplyDeleteBTW it's Lester Holt that hosts crime TV dramas. Lou Holtz does sports. Poor man. His ears are ringing for no reason.
ReplyDeleteAh, Thank you for the clarification Cube !
DeleteWell, sometimes my ears ring for no reason so I guess it's only fair.
Cube, I corrected the post. Now I owe you big time.
