The Sombrero, My Favorite Galaxy

.

It's so balanced.  So aligned.  So Massive.  I'm Libra.  I appreciate Balance and Harmony in a galaxy.

I just know there are fantastic golf courses there.  I wonder if everyone calls each other Hombre there...and if Siesta time is a Galactic Tradition.  It is beautiful.

  1. It's lovely. I was just explaining the concept of the Milky Way to my kids the other night.

  2. Opus, If they show an interest, the APOD site is a fantastic place for them to easily and quickly get some education in all related matter via the descriptions given for the images. Always written by professional astronomers and including links to related objects.

As someone mentioned the other day, it is a nice way to keep a little big picture mentality as well, and imo, that's a good thing.

I kinda envy you. There was a time when my nieces were young that they'd be entranced about my describing/explaining different things. I always talk to anyone like they are adults, and it's a lot of fun to see them fascinated by brand new information :)

Once, a niece was 3 and we flew on a plane together from Pittsburgh to Phoenix (I was 29 or so). She asked me what made the plane fly and I gave her a quick answer. She got annoyed and said "No, what really makes it fly !" So, I spent about 20 minutes describing how jet engines work, then how it's the vacuum above the wing that provides the lift and how the ailerons and elevators and rudder work and how the pilots use the controls up in the cockpit. She took it all in and said Thanks! with an expression that said, "Ok, now I understand" when I was done. Lot's of fun.
