Another Beautiful Weekend...

My wife and I have been spending the last month at my parents house as we prepare to move into our new home. While the family is fantastic, it has been quite interesting for two newly weds to embarq on such a stay. It has given us ample time to step back and observe everything that has been going on, and to actually delve further into the minutia.

So let's see where to start.

The Russian and Chinese Governments spent $4 Billion this week to prop up the dollar so that they may maintain some sort of exports to the US.

Iran is buying gold like it is going out of style, anticipating more sanctions.

The Royal Bank of Australia raised their interest rate a quarter of a percent in anticipation of inflation.

$1.00 US = $1.04 CAN.... ???

Gold hits all time high (before pulling back ever so slightly because of the $4 Billion purchase mentioned earlier) of $1,063/ounce.

Chairman Bernanke says we are going to keep printing money for a while...

Our President is trying to turn Afghanistan into a police action... hummm, I have heard that term before.

Health Care will increase taxes on everybody- except for those who don't pay taxes anyway (Tim Geithner).

Second Stimulus is being pushed by the democrats- wait, how did the first one work out? I thought we were to be below 8% unemployment? Now almost 15 million people out of work.

Have you ever googled the newspaper headlines from the 1930's?
"Recession is Over", "Recovery is here", etc., etc, over and over for the entire decade. Sound familiar?

Sugar hits all time price high. California food production down 25% due to water being cut-off to farmers to save the smelt.

Dollar has lost 19% of its value in last 6 months.

Obama wants to control the internet, blogging, financial industry/regulation, health care, and demise of the dollar- but was given a Nobel Peace Prize for internation diplomacy.

The IMF now gets to help regulate our Financial Industry.

Yada, yada, yada.

Does anyone else notice any certain trends here?

While many of us sit here this weekend, we are oblivious to what is actually happenning right under our feet or over our heads. The devaluing of our dollar has gone to new lows, and the "Post recession Inflation" has not even started yet. Sadly, it will not be until a Happy Meal at McDonald's is $35.00 that the mainstream will realize what is going on.

So, another beautiful weekend... enjoying a Value Meal at $6.99... (How long ago was it $5 or even $4?) Ahhh progress...

  1. Welcome Captain.

I agree there is much going on that is not known, or at least not being reported.

  2. Hi Captain! These trends are very disturbing and just the tip of the iceberg! Food is going way up!
I hope my fav restaurants and buffets don't rise higher....it's creeping, upward.

  3. I just remembered, I felt a little off the other day, so I cooked a couple cans of Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup. They one they've been making since the last depression.

A buck 80 versus 99 cents just a year or two ago, 10 oz versus 12 and I didn't have to add water to it.

I believe the term that will come into mainstream use is "Stagflation".

  4. Welcome, Captain. It isn't that I'm oblivous. I'm just waiting for the shooting to start. No joke. Right now I don't see a successful option other than a civil war/revolution. I'm not advocating it, but I expect it.

  5. Arby is close,so close.
In the `60's we saw the Lefty's get a little rambunctious. The Guardsman with hair triggers stunned the Lefty's at Kent State.
All across America every neighborhood, were armed to the teeth. And a couple were stock piling with a few storerooms, with extra g and a. They were afraid that the Guardsmen would not be able to control the Lefty's.
Now the Lefty's control the Guardsman. What are American neighborhoods to do now. Especially if they try to disarm the People first.

  6. Excellent contribution, and welcome, Captain!

Not that any of your numbers or information is shocking, but the one that hit me the hardest is the Canadian dollar... I remember about 10 years ago as I travelled to Toronto and Niagra Falls, $1.00 US was about $.83 CAN, and 10 years before that it was $.72.

    Frightening... Zimbabwe here we come!

  7. I really don't know who said it, but "hope for the best, and prepare for the worst..." takes the cake here.

As far as g & a, I would consider those purchasing as "precious metal" investors. The lead, brass, and copper should be worth considerably more in a few months/days/minutes...

Taking cues, analyzing risk, and preparing for my family is what takes precedent. Whether it be stocking up on food, precious metals (real currency), g & a, or fuel sources- these will all be sorely missing. I like to minimize risk- not invite it. Also, a person must consider that they may be the only prepared one in the family (not so crazy anymore) if things start getting really rough. Planning for extra guests and food must be considered.

The ultimate bastardization of our Constitution may be coming, but I believe the resistance by civilians and military will be concrete. The higher ups know that 90% of the military will not confiscate weapons from the citizens. They are planning on that.

I would expect to see a Gold Confiscation first, like FDR in 1933. The final straw under the guise, "to prop up the failing dollar," which would really be to strip the people of wealth. That could trigger the gun confiscation to "protect ourselves from each other."

  8. Progressing nicely down the drain of hope and change.

  9. They Say - "Now the Lefty's control the Guardsman."

    A sobering thought indeed.

  10. Soloman, You have the right idea but the numbers are wrong. It was like 1.25 CN to a US dollar, the US dollar being worth more.

But yes, this is a time when you can say the US is no longer a super power. The administration has no intention of using its power and the rogue states of the Earth are walking all over us, AND what were once our true allies are being shunned by these buffoons.

Yes, "These are the bastards we've been waiting for". Jumpin Catfish.
And I'm afraid this is all too complicated for most of Oblamas supporters to understand. They cheer it on, only concerned tat he isn't moving fast enough on gay marriage or letting nambla take over the schools.

  11. Captain, as far as analyzing and preparing, I'd say you're right on the money.

And if it comes to pass, it won't be one of these events that builds and finally arrives, it will happen quickly - days and weeks, but not months in my opinion.

As you say, the vast majority will not be prepared.

I would add that we'll need to be prepared to either hand out food to roving mobs or kill to protect it.

There simply isn't enough authoritative resource to guard all the neighborhoods all the time.

And can you see the USA as one big New Orleans Superdome experience? Wowsa.

Finally, one wonders what the hell oblama thinks he needs with a domestic army, especially when he is more afraid of conservatives, Rush and Hannity than he is of a nuclear Iran.

I think I can figure it out.

  13. Oops..

I know my dollar was worth a quarter more in Canada... how's that?

Either way.. we're losing value more than I've ever witnessed. Pretty soon the dollar will be worthless in Mexico, at the rate we're going.

  14. Soloman, I may have misread what you were saying.

You'd get approx. 1.25 Canadian for 1.00 US, when I was going up there. We took my wife's folks to the Casino in Windsor a few times over the last several years.
