  1. Now THAT is hilarious! If I was a cat, I'd want to be that one.

  2. Very, very smart kitteh.

I'm watching this at 3 am because I just endured what I call the middle of the night love fest. Around 2 am Erica kitteh decides that at that moment she loves me so overwhelmingly that she must let me know by by licking any exposed part of my body. Elbows, nose, shoulder, and hands are all targets for her love. In addition head bumping under my chin is a necessary component of this overwhelming love. Did I mention her love is overwhelming? Well - it is.

    1. Adrienne, you had me going with that first sentence... Anyway, our cats don't bug me at night (that i know of), but after I hit snooze a couple times on the alarm clock, LB is on my shoulders giving me a claw massage, Lodi has one of his paws on my head and is extending his claws into my scalp, and Howard is walking around meowing. I guess they don't want me to be late for work, or maybe they want to be fed.

    2. Adrienne,
Erica kitteh decides that at that moment she loves me so overwhelmingly that she must let me know by by licking any exposed part of my body.

My Mysti (1999-present) does that! Yes, she's 18 years old! Mysti started in on me at 4:30 this morning. Usually, she'll wait till 5:30 or a bit later. But this morning she must have sensed that I was in a lot of pain.

My own fault about that pain: I forgot to take my bedtime meds. Damn.

Mysti doesn't do the chin bumps. Instead, she grooms the hair on my head. She pulls out a few strands every time. It's a wonder that, over the years, I haven't been snatched bald.

As I recall, your Erica is also a tri-color. So is my Mysti, albeit a diffuse tortie.

  3. Love this video!

My mostly orange cat Dusti (1997-2012) used to to do this.

Our beloved Cameo (2001-2017) used to bang one of the cabinet doors in the kitchen. Now that she's gone, our tortie Amber bangs one of the cabinet doors. She watched Cameo and learned the trick!

    Cats are not stupid!

    1. Mysti is very beautiful. Heck - all kittehs are beautiful. I do prefer small kitteh noses though.

Erica is indeed a tr-color. The vet says shes equipped with the absolutely perfect camouflage.

I'd be thrilled if Erica waited until 4:30 am since I'm usually up by 5. But, noooooooooooo between 1am and 3am is the perfect time.

    3. Adrienne,
Mysti is a very small kitty. She was sickly as a kitten (coccidiosis) and nearly died.

Because she has chronic renal failure, she weighs quite a bit less than her ideal weight (6-7 pounds).

Amber, on the other hand, is robust: 11-12 pounds, I think.

  4. Well, I'm still workin for a living. Cats get me up too early and they'll get locked in the garage at night !

    1. We're lenient with our kitties -- never mind that I still have to work.

      And we have no garage!

    2. You are a better person than me then. I'm lenient but I do need some sleep ! :-) I usually get about 7 a night. If I went to bed at 9 or 10, it might be a different story... Usually 11 or 12 though. I'm a night owl.

    3. Most nights, I force myself to go to bed by 9:00. And my night meds usually knock me out so that I'm asleep no later than 9:30.

Last night, I went to bed too early. I was asleep by 6:45. Sheesh. But I give myself credit for tutoring for five hours straight yesterday and without any lunch break.

    4. PS: When I tutor, I'm intense. High energy and all that. After all, if the teacher is low energy, the kids lose interest.

Getting too old to do so much of this!

    5. AOW, I have to have to flu to be able to hit the sack at 9. I just can't do it before 11:30 - good on ya.

I can definitely see where kids need intensity. I didn't have much of that in teachers in grade school and so watched a lot of pigeons sitting in the window opposed to paying attention.

    6. Kid,
[I] watched a lot of pigeons sitting in the window opposed to paying attention.

      That was your teachers' failing.

    8. Our daughter brought home a feral calico kitten and for a long time she didn't want anything to do with the rest of us. Now, she only wants to deal with me. In the middle of the night, I'll feel something tickle my nose and I wake up to see Missy Moo right up on my face. She hides when anyone else is around and I feel as though my family thinks I have an imaginary cat friend.

    9. Cube, That's interesting. My lunch pal coupe has a feral Calico which became an inside outside cat. She loves him, and tolerates her.
We have a calico feral on the back deck who on very rare occasion will come in, but she loves me and tolerates Madeline. Don't know if it's a gender thing or a personality thing.
I had heard that you have imaginary friends though.
