He gets such a beautiful sound out of the guitar. I know it's an acoustic instrument (the only kind I respect), but he must have had one helluva good recording engineer to capture such a rich full sound. It's larger than life.
FT, He was always interested n electronics and did much experimenting. He was mostly his own recording engineer. Built a recording studio in his basement and recorded a lot of his albums there.
He was always interested in sound quality and demanded perfection from himself. He was always technically perfect. A guitar player's guitar player. Tommy can out play Chet even in Chet's prime (He's pretty old in this one) but Tommy has no where near the breadth of recordings that Chet had done. I remember as a little kid, reading one of his album's liner notes and the writer commented that Chet's sound was always right. Timing, notes, tone, all of it.
He was a producer, and pretty much crafted the sound of the Everly Bros and some others in the studio. Heck of a guy. Never arrogant about it. Shared all the talents he had.
Chet Atkins was a fan of my hubby who included some of his songs on some of his CD's.

Adrienne. Neat. I know Chet was not shy about talking about he being a fan of various artists.
