Hey Kid - this band had it going on. I love Ginger Baker...what a great talent, what a master of the drums. Jack Bruce and Slow Hand himself. I've seen Eric twice in concert. The last time I saw Eric he closed his set with Mark Knopfler; it was awesome. I remember as a kid in traveling from TX to KS for college I was told to turn my "8-track" of cream down (I had headphones on) because it was too loud. Can you dig it! I understand there will be no more Cream shows then what was recorded at Royal Albert Hall.
I consider Ginger Baker as the best drummer I've ever heard. Check out the drum solo 'Do What You Like' from Blind Faith. Eric, Ginger, Steve Winwood and Ric Grech.
There is a drum solo as part of this set that I am going to post that will steal 10 minutes of every viewer life that they won't get back.
Jack Bruce in Cream was a heck of a Bass player too. If I had a nickel for every time they told me to turn it down. :)

Here are the boys back in the day with a short version Check out the drums starting at 2:50 and how he keeps that symbol going.
The studio version is out there too in the right sidebar
ReplyDeleteBlind Faith - throw that one monster album out to the world and see how many people know which mega talents were in the all-star band.
ReplyDeleteDeanO, In the Presence of The Lord..

I'm so glad you put up Cream!!!
ReplyDeleteGene, some of my all time favorite stuff. Every tune except for White Room, which is the only one they play on the radio. Wild eh?
