  1. I shall miss making contact with the [very few] worthwhile people I've encountered on the net [Relax, Kid! You're one of them. ;-], but because I am old and still have contact with my pre-computerized existence, I shall have no trouble going back to doing what I've always done -- writing in solitude.

I admit it's fun to share your thoughts with an "instant audience," but it encourages vanity and an unhealthy kind of exhibitionism that too often affects disposition, character, quality of output and too often gives rise to a barroom brawl atmosphere at too many blogs and interactive websites. That's worse than aggravating -- i's intensely BORING.

So, when Big Brother comes to tap me on the shoulder, it's very likely I'll be nowhere to be found.

    1. FT, I think it's going to take a while for that. In the meantime, it's just going to cost more. In direct taxes added to the bills and of course, the hidden taxes we pay when we buy products or services from companies who are now paying more for their internet operations. The kids never see that stuff, and if they do they blame it on The Rich sticking it to them again.

    2. FT, PS, reply to the idiots if you must but as soon as I notice a comment here from one of them, out to the garbage can it goes. I have no patience for children anymore.

    3. I feel as you do about aggressive idiocy, Kid, and often take pleasure in deleting it at my place, but I've known Jersey for years, and have experienced his better sides. He does have them, and so I still try to reason with him on occasion. Do my best, though never to throw gasoline on a fire or anything like that. Sorry if I broke your rules. I'd never encountered JMJ here before.

    4. FT, No reason to apologize or even feel down. I was just letting you know what my intentions were. In the future if you want to engage, by all means, and he'll get the email if he subscribes to the comments, but his comment will be gone soon enough.

  2. Am I the only one who's impressed by a system which, when encountering an error while trying to report an error, bails out more-or-less gracefully rather than always trying to report the last error and thereby generating errors in an endless loop? I say, kudos to Obamanet!

    1. Heh, as a programmer, I will agree, though I'd rather not get the error at all of course Interestingly enough, this error occurred while I was trying to refresh my active chess games on Schemingmind.com.

  3. Kudos, Kid: it appears you have cleansed your comments section from a nasty pinko troll's attempts to crap on your site. I was going to mention something yesterday, but you are all over it like a Kennedy on a bottle of Scotch....

    1. Thanks Fredd, I've taken my own advice finally. I don't access my email or blog from work, so it's going to be likely 6 pm EDT when I notice the sordid activity and remove it. fyi

  4. This morning I had one helluva time placing an order with Walden Farms.

Earlier in the day, I had a helluva time posting any graphics to Blogger.

I hope that I don't receive a tax bill in the mail.
