Have you read that smart TV’s with voice recognition record any
conversations within earshot and send them off to ‘third parties’. SO
close to 1984. Have you noticed the kids don't care about this?
Have you noticed the kids think the current world environment is the best ever ?
Can you believe people would actually pay Time Warner, as an example, 40 bucks a month to put their home access on the Internet ? Lol.
Did you read where cars with GM On Star can be hacked and taken over?
If we're in an alternate universe, who is now in ours and what are they doing with our stuff?
If Wisconsin's drug testing for public assistance law passes, can you imagine what it will be like to try to get a burger at a fast food restaurant and live through the experience ? Would you eat the burger?
Given that islam has nothing in common with a civilized society, let alone an American society, why are we trying to help them gain power in America ?
Why does obama have an approval rating over 1% when everything he does is counter to American culture and civilized culture and everything he says is total bullshit.
You realize cats and dogs are working at a feverish pace to save mankind ?
Is there anything new under the sun?
after reading halfway down this list, I had to force myself to read more.....OH my GOSH!
ReplyDeleteAre you saying that TVs record the conversations in our living rooms? These 'smart' TVs that ought to be outlawed now?
Is that what you mean? Who's listening? What is WITH this government...???
Yes, a LOT is new under the sun; at least in this country that used to be free.........
Yes Z,

Who is listening? Marketing people. government operatives, perverts, transvestites, bruce jenner, the russians, the chinese, the moslems. 8 year old kids who can hack 'the internet of things' and heck there is probably an embedded webcam in the TV too so they are also watching. Wow.
DeleteThe webcam is no doubt infrared, so it won't do you any good to turn out the lights. We'll have to be extra careful Z.
DeleteWell, Kid. It's been nice knowing you. Now that you've ratted out our Tri-lateral Commission's activities on the Internet, what with our webcams implanted here and there, willy nilly, I am afraid that a squadron of our black helicopters has been dispatched to your house.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't think we don't know about those damn cats and dogs, Kid. We've got a few black choppers heading their way, too.
Fredd, All our animals own mini-guns. Not to worry

ReplyDeleteThat's what I want to know?
Did you catch portions of BHO's interview with Vox? Sheesh.
And why does Hillary have the support SHE does?
DeleteAOW, I can't watch or listen to him. he looks like satan's butthole to me. I know all I need to.
DeleteEd, Good God yes, what a disgusting creature she is.
DeleteSo often, she gets a look on her face that's almost what a cartoonist would draw as a caricature.
DeleteBug eyed, goofy grin.
But I'm not trying to make fun of Bugs or Goofy, two of my favorite cartoon characters. :)
I don't look Ed :) Yes, the Warner Bros cartoons were the best of all time. I see some of that crap they have today and think wtf?

And that may be why "the kids" don't see anything wrong in the way we live today –– thanks to the dominant role Technology has come to play in most lives.
From where I sit at age 74 there is more truth in poetry than in any dry recitation of Facts and Figures. Admittedly I am old-fashioned. Despite my using the computer just about every day, I use it to hunt down and enjoy literary, visual, and musical artifacts from the rich heritage of our now-moribund Western Civilization –– and to express myself in verbal style many hoot at as "haughty," "affected" and "archaic."
Well too bad! That is who I am and who I was carefully brought up and educated to be in an era I will insist to my dying day that was far healthier, friendlier, happier, richer, more exciting, more rewarding and far less enervating than the mechanized, automated culture brought to us by Technology that separates us more and more each day from our humanity. We have been manipulated and seduced into becoming a race of heartless, thoughtless, eminently malleable automata.
But the kids don't know that, and wouldn't believe it if we told them, and so "they grow accustomed to the Dark," "Adjust themselves to Midnight," and –– to them –– "Life steps almost straight."
People like me are a dying breed, we are on our way out, soon must succumb to the inevitable and quickly be forgotten –– as though we had never existed. I am coming to believe that that is the way it is supposed to be. Human beings have always found ways to reinvent themselves every generation or two. It may seem sad, but since societal evolution really is completely beyond anyone's control, there's nothing to do but accept whatever Fate hands out, make the best of it while we still breathe, and just put up with it.
Suicide is our only alternative, and who in his right mind wants that?
FT, Yes, One must be aware of but certainly not dwell on that which we cannot affect. obama. twice. etc.
DeleteYes, social media/technology in general washes the current culture over people like a tidal wave and the current culture sucks. kanye west, miley, et all. whores with no talent, and aside form this there is very little of substance or value. Everything is awesum, epic, badass, and adorable to the young folks. This is how they maintain their happiness. They live in a fantasy where everything is awesum, epic, badass, and adorable. They are in for a very rude awakening. Cest la Vie.
An added random thought. I never see anything on the web where kids are raving about facebork. I see nothing but complaints. It makes me think they all feel that they're required to have a facebork account.
I just read you're last 3 paragraphs. Obviously we agree quite a bit.
Enjoy.
Thank you, Kid. There's a certain satisfaction in being aware, even though there's precious little if anything you or I could do to improve the situation.
DeleteChrist said:
"Ye shall know the Truth, and the Truth shall make you free."
What we forget is that He did NOT say:
"Ye shall know the Truth, and then you'll be able to reshape the world to suit yourself."

Free Thinke: ah yes, pining for 'the good ol' days, now that the world is going to hell in a hand basket. I catch myself drifting off in that direction from time to time. There was an article a few years back, maybe even a book (I would Google it but I am just too damn lazy) titled "The Good Ol' Days Were Not All That Good,' or something near to that.
ReplyDeleteA few tidbits from that article always puts things in perspective for me when its inarguable that in 'the good ol' days,' people lived to a ripe old age of 60 or so. Social Security was set up on that premise, remember? The actuaries figured that most geezers would never live to see their checks, so government was on solid ground here. In the good ol' days, you had to 'break in' your new car, you remember, using 'break in oil,' and then you might get maybe 50,000 miles out of it before it started to fall apart. Now cars can go 50K miles without an oil change and run like a top.
In the 'good ol' days,' polio, smallpox, and a myriad of deadly diseases were just something we put up with. Of course, with Obama opening up the borders to all kinds of Typhoid Mary's stampeding across, I think we will be taken back to 'the good ol' days' in short order, bad example here.
But you get my drift. Societal evolution is indeed beyond control, so we can all embrace it, curse it, or a little bit of both. But time marches on regardless. Interesting comment, though, Free. BTW, did I ever mention that I used to walk to school 6 miles knee deep in snow, uphill, both ways, summer and winter? Or at least that's the way I remember it.
Fredd, Good Old Days. Depends on your point of reference. I was talking to some kids on the web around an article that proclaimed that things have never been better in the world to which they agree. Of course, 99.999% of their time is consumed by smartphones, mesmerizing GIFs (today's laval lamps), drinking partying and thinking of or having sex.
DeleteI just replied to them that the technology is great, the People are F*d. And they sure are worldwide.
On Obama's approval rating: I notice that Gallup's approval rating of Obama shot up nearly ten points right after the beginning of the new year, for absolutely no reason. Some people may be deluded by Obama because, hey, they're liberals, but why in heaven's name are 45% of the people in the US attached to the guy?
ReplyDeletePerhaps "liberalized" education has succeeded in creating socialist zombies after all.
And I am claiming BS on publicized attitudes about Islam. We're acting like a bunch of abused children who keep thinking that if we just keep quiet, the abuser will just go away.
Euripides, Socialist zombies. Yep. not informed, misinformed, uneducated, PC consumed idiots. It's an avalanche of stupidity.
ReplyDeleteA guy from Sweden I read, Maybe Iceland tells me that any negative speech about islam is considered hate speech over there. That's what cair is working on here. I find it heartening that Americas are beginning to 'have negative views of islam'.
And Germany - Merkel actually islam belongs to Germany when they have millions of Germans marching against the welfare collecting vermin moslems who march threatening violence against the people who pay their way?? HOLY F* Something's got to give.
Merkel actually Said...
