The Cat's Eye Nebula, Served Two Ways
First, a wider view we haven't seen before.
And here is what that dealy-whopper (The Cat's Eye we're more familiar with[those of us who have been intimate with it anwyay]) in the very middle looks like up close.
As always, click the pictures to go to the APOD site and read a detailed explanation written by a smart person, then click again while there to get larger versions of the picture (usually).

Carol-CS, You can't have creation without a creator right?
DeleteI think we're getting our money's worth out of the Hubble and missions like Cassini to Saturn. Really great pics coming back from there.
This site is a Charter Member of The Empty Chair Movement and celebrating National Empty Chair Day.
ReplyDeleteThis replaces Labor Day because there are No Jobs.
Happy Labor Day Kid and the rest of all you Conservatives.
And remember, "We Can Do This"
I love the Empty Chair concept. That's exactly what it is. I'm sure Clint's use of it was symbolic. Let's hope obama will be remembered that way.
DeleteHappy Labor Day to you.
Those are some cool cat's eyes, Kid!
ReplyDeleteKitteh & I want to wish you and your family a very Happy Labor Day!
Don't forget, it's empty chair day. I have one on my porch now ;-)
I loved those Chuck Norris facts too, very cool. Have a fun day.
Hiya Bunni, Hope you're having a wonderful Labor Day. It's a great 2 day weekend here.
DeleteGlad you liked it. :)
Three thousand light-years away, a dying star throws off shells of glowing gas...
ReplyDeleteAnd at over four bucks for a gallon of gas (well over double since obama took office) for NASA and the Mohawk dude to send a rover there it would cost about... uhhhh, let's see... 1 Light Year = 5878625373183.61 Miles, multiplied by 3,000... carry the one... I'll get back to you on this.
Mr Blade, I'm glad it's not any closer.
ReplyDeleteobama says Money is No Object.
I posted while you over ---but blogger was giving me problems, so check it out
ReplyDeleteThey Say, Good one. Thanks for the note. Hope you had a great weekend. It was pretty nice here.
