Proof Positive Russians Have Been Involved in US Elections for a Long Time

Here is proof positive.  The Russians even colluded with the great Chet Atkins back around circa 1950(!) to begin playing Russian music.

Here is Dark Eyes. One of the earliest examples of Russian Communist integration.  Of course Chet plays it impeccably as demanded by comrade Andropov and the threat of a life in the Gulags....

    1. Mustang. Those WERE the days my friend. I Did think they would never end. I'm not so sure at this point for myself, but I'm absolutely sure they have for society.

  5. That certainly does have a Russian flavor---I love the only Russian folk music. Check out this one Kretchma. Of course, the Russian influence on American politics may go back as far as John Paul Jones and Catherine II. Seems the old gal liked John a lot and made him an admiral. Giving him command of the Russian Flag ship 'Vladimir' in the war with the Turks. Of course Paul Jones never gave up his American citizenship. Just a little trivia from this old history teacher.

    1. Ron, Dark Eyes is a Russian Folk Song.

Kretchma is catchy and very Russian flavor as well. Thanks for the link. That looks like 60's and reinforces my theory that more and more American artists began to adopt the Russian culture which has resulted today in the total adoption of everything un-American by the over tattooed and pierced young homo sapiens we must endure seeing as we try to enjoy a meal perhaps in an IHOP on a Wednesday afternoon in anytown, USA.

John Paul Jones - Rock Star of days gone by.....

“Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me."

  6. More clear roof that a TUNE, by tself, is almost NOTHING. Everything depends on the way the tune is harmonized, varied, developed and the expertise with which it is performed.

This is actually what classical composers and performers would call A SET of VARIATIONS, Chet Atkins was brilliant at what he did, as we all know, but somehow I doubt if too many of his greatest fans are aware of the termendous DEBT he –– and most of the other twentieth-century greats in jazz and popular music –– owe to the composers of what-we-call "classical music."

ALL forms of Western Music are really branches of the SAME tree.

I'm not sure whether our friend Chet was aware of that or not, but it doesn't matter. The man was a "NATURAL," which means he was able to develop his great talent from the INSTINCTS God gave him.

Most of the great ones are like that.

Thanks, Kid, for this enjoyable break from the grimness and stupidity of current events.

    1. Chet learned a lot from others, but everyone says he had a natural talent for making arrangements that were 'right'. There is some Chet in every artist's music he produced at RCA.

Glad you got a break !

    2. FT, PS, One thing Chet would say is music is all about tension and release. True.
