Olympics !

From Here

On July 11, 25 days before the opening ceremonies of the 2016 Olympics, the International Olympic Committee issued a statement announcing in all caps that “RIO 2016 IS READY TO WELCOME THE WORLD.” Several paragraphs below, it addressed the many rumors—or are they?—that Guanabara Bay and Lagoa, the water-sport venues where Olympic sailors, rowers and canoers will be competing (and inevitably ingesting water), are teeming with human excrement. “Organizers restated their confidence that both areas of water would provide top-level conditions for the athletes,” the IOC wrote.
The same day, Reuters reported that scientists had found drug-resistant “super-bacteria” in Lagoa, as well as off Copacabana beach, where Olympic marathon and triathlon swimmers will compete. The super-bacteria could cause “urinary, gastrointestinal, pulmonary and bloodstream infections, along with meningitis,” Reuters wrote, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it contributes to death for up to half of all patients infected.

Sounds Lovely

    1. AOW, I won't be paying any attention to the olympics, but will be expecting to see some bad news stories pop up in my news feed.

      Hell if I'd go there.

    2. Kid,
I might watch some of the ladies' gymnastics. Mr. AOW's sister was an Olympic athlete -- the year that the U.S. boycotted the 1980 Olympics. Figures, huh?

      Her specialist was the beam.

She's paying a helluva price now that she's over 40. All that pounding! Terrible joint problems and several joint replacements.

    4. AOW, No spell police are allowed on site here so not to worry. Yes, I've never been a believer in overuse of one's body parts, especially joints.

    5. Kid,
My mother and my ophthalmic surgeon discouraged high-impact exercise. Consequently, my joints are young. **smile**

BTW, jogging on a hard surface is bad for the eye and can lead to retinal detachment.

  3. This is what happens when we erroneously think that third world banana republics can perform in the same manner as modern, more developed countries. Whatever the Olympic committee was thinking when they awarded the 2016 games to this dysfunctional country escapes logic.

    1. Fredd, yea! Imagine!

Well, many pro golfers did not go down there. I guess Golfers are among the smartest or people.

  4. I understand they added two new events because of the polluted waters: the log roll and the fecal relay.

    2. A short while back a top Brazilian scientist called for the importation of the "Scarabaeidia" aka Kenyan Dung Beetle, the best shit eater in the world, but that socialist government turned a blind eye to his proposal. As a result, sh*t is piling up on the beaches and waterways. However the government did find the money to build some 28 huge complexes for the events of the 2016 Olympics. Stadiums and arenas they will have little use for when the athletes go home. In this modern era, the games don't make money for the host country, but cost in the long run.

    3. Ron, that certainly rings true, I suspect a few certain individuals in the host country have increased their personal wealth however, And of course, certain individuals in influential countries much more.

  5. I, personally, do not trust ANYTHING dished out by the ENEMEDIA.

If these horrid things were true, WHY would any SANE person go to Rio either to PARTICIPATE either as an ATHLETE –– OR –– a Spectator?

    The ENEMEDIA is EVIL personified.
