Is that the DO YOU BELIEVE IN MAGIC Lovin' Spoonful?? THE CATS you all really SHOULD know about is the ones led by Mark O'Connor ... https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/the-new-nashville-cats/id357873068
Yes. Both had a very similar style and an almost identical sound. Glad to know about ass. How I missed him I can't imagine. I always enjoyed Mottolla. Listening to him on a rainy afternoon was as good as redecorating the room. In many ways better. ;-) It's good to see your young friend Robertson is carrying on the tradition.
I like his style SO much...there's something 'clean' about his playing.... thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnd I really like that song!
Z, I remember someone once saying about great musicians.. "it's not the notes, it's the pauses between the notes.."
DeleteZ, Talk about CLEAN Playing

The NEW NASHVILLE CATS......I LOVE THEM!
That is Them Z.
DeleteYes, there is some talent there.
Very pleasant to hear these old standards reinterpreted with such faithfulness to the "original intent." This is gentle, laid back, and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteNot Tommy Emmanuel, who is a high energy, super-virtuoso with a healthy, hearty, energizing approach, but a nice alternative all the same.
FT, Agree. He's played with Tommy on stage too btw.
DeleteThanks for posting. The notes in between the pauses are kind of good too.
ReplyDeleteEuripides, Yes, nice tune. Plenty of him on youtube.
DeleteWhat do you think of Tony Mottola, (Sp?) if you think of him at all?
ReplyDeleteFT, My Dad had a Tony Motolla record. He was a great standard guitar player. Like a Joe Pass
