YES. Terrific! I've become a fan overnight, and have already bookmarked several of the YouTube videos for future enjoyment. It's been a long time since I felt the urge to add anyone new to my (very long) list of musical favorites. Thaks for all of this, Kid.
FT, You're welcome. Most of what we have we get from someone right? True in my case for sure. Enjoy.
Try Endless Road, Angelina, Mombasa, Fields of Gold, Day Tripper, Son of a Gun, Tall Fiddler, Mona Lisa... Center Stage which is a collection of live performances picked by Tommy.
Z, They both started playing about 4. At 6 they were in the family band - Midget Safari, touring Australia. Phil is a great player. I guess I'd pick Tommy for diversity, then again, he only plays acoustic for a while now in concerts. Ok, we'll call it even.
When I first read the title of your post, my immediate thought was Tommy Bolin has a brother. Where? I guess I'm dating myself. I'm not familiar with Tommy Emmanuel, but the video shows he and his brother are both very talented guitar players.
Hi Cube, Check out the one I left for FT Tons of stuff on youtube too. He's been playing 50 + years. Doesn't even bother with CD's anymore just does 300 concerts a year. He mostly plays alone.
FT, Thanks. I've been listening to Tony and Chet since about 11. I own probably just about everything Chet recorded and a lot of youtube stuff downloaded from live performances.
Chet was a guitar player's guitar player. Anyone and Everyone who was interested in guitar in the 50's, 60's 70's for sure either got interested because of him or certainly knew who he was. George Harrison for example played a Gretsch because that what Chet was playing at the time.
A (very) few of my ideas of great guitar (and lute) playing:

TRY 'EM, you might LIKE 'em. ;-) They're all very different from each other.
Yea, those guys are pretty good, Look up some Ramon Montoya..
DeleteYour friends Tommy and Phil are great players. High energy!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'd prefer less amplification, but they sure know their way around their instruments.
Do they ever play anything quiet, thoughtful and moody?
Just asking. ;-)
Quite, Thoughtful and Moody...
DeleteAsk and yee shall receive
FT, This is Tommy
DeleteIf he comes to your locale, he puts on a wonderful show. I think you'd enjoy it.

ReplyDeletebut they SURE CAN play guitar!

FT, Here is Chet playing it. Notice how much richer and crisp it is.
