Hey Man, Tommy Was Over Last Night and Played Tall Fiddler

Here it is.  (Actually, he played this in concert here in Cincinnati and afterwards gave a Lesson on how to play it, which resulted in everyone going home and duplicating the tune afterwards I'm sure)  Tommy puts on a great show and if you get a chance to see him.. tommyemmanuel.com tours

    1. TS/WS Nice tune. Tommy says he can teach a monkey to play fast but its very hard to play with feeling. Ala Over the Rainbow or Mona Lisa..True.
He played the tune Sep 13 here and it was incredible. I've seen him 5 years in a row now and he gets better every year. Unreal.

    1. CI, I know what Tommy's advice to your daughter is - "Get to Work!"

People are lucky today, there are so many free lessons on youtube. Check out Chet Atkins Get Started On Guitar. Even if she doesn't want to do finger style, there is a lot of good info there. Well here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8VZmpXe0hg

Tommy has a lot of instructional vids too.

    1. Fredd, I don't know but I don't think so. He would have been playing in Australia in either the family band starting age 6 or in an Australian rock band Dragon in those days.

  4. you know I usually only like blue grass types of strings (other than classical music, of course, which I love)...fiddle, etc., like Mark Connors, etc., but you're fast changing my mind.
    This is ASTONISHING playing.........

  5. How is your guitar playing going- Kid?--and- does he have the band around the top two notches (octaves) to set the strings to a more solid sound ?

    1. Carol-CS, I cannot tell a lie, not that well because I'm not practicing enough... The device on the 2nd fret is called a Capo and it is used to bring the strings up another key (or more). Google, Using a Capo. There is more than one reason.
How about you? I don't think I'll be spending a whole lot of time with it until after retirement, hopefully 5-6 years ! :)

    2. Carol-CS, PS, I'm going to listen to this thing again now. Honestly, if you get a chance to see him in person - Great show.
