SURPRISE !

.

I don't like Steven Tyler.  I don't like Aerosmith.  The only tune they ever did that was worth anything was Sweet Emotion imo.

I think Steven Tyler is a turnip brained freak who takes 4 times as long to get dressed and get his makeup on as anyone's wife.

But I can't complain about his singing of the National Anthem.   I clicked on this link expecting to be treated to an offensive disertation of our national anthem once again.

Not to be.
I wouldn't send it out to friends and say it's great, but I wouldn't complain about it either.  I think it should be sung this way.  With all the words and notes that are originally in it and without a crapload of worthless vocal acrobatics.  I'll take it over Agularia's for sure and most of the others who have done the super bowl in recent years.

Maybe that's me.

  1. I'm with you, that's how he sings. To me, all Aerosmith songs sound exactly like this. :p

  2. Fuzzy, Now that you mention it... Yea, you're right. Interesting. And again, OK for the National Anthem - It was meant to be sung by All of us, not performers and that's the way he did it - is another way of saying it.

    Thanks for the view.

  3. I thought he did his best. The national anthem is a challenging song over a couple of octaves. He did fine.

  4. I heard some on the AM radio here local station-local owned, and they are critics for the most part about everything; but, said that Tyler did a good job.
Thanks for the link, so I could hear it. You are right he did not do any such jump around. Just clean and with his style, which he was asked to do. Did anyone expect him to sing like an Oprah star?
At 65 yrs. and screaming rock singer for 35 yrs, it's a wonder he could do this good.
Just so you know- the singer for Led Zep at the age of 35 or 40 yrs could barely talk above a whisper, after all those screams in their songs.

  5. I thought he did a pretty good job with that song.
Who's to say there wasn't any screaming when the song was written.

  6. Opus, They Say, Bobby, Yes, again, I appreciate someone singing the notes (and words -Christina! haha) that were written, which many have stayed far from in recent years at least.

I didn't mind the screaming around the word freedom at all.

  7. I agree. He did okay, better than me. And much much better than Roseann. He sang it as it should be sung without the self-agrandizing embellishments that so many others throw in.
