Hey Kid - I find it really cool that all these awesome musicians, and for the most part, enjoy sharing their trade with other musicians. All these new players owe much of their success to folks like Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Son House and one of my personal favorites Bo Didley. OH and the ultra clean sound of Mr. Chet Atkins (you guy)
Christopher, Thanks. I've been posting him for a while. Glad you like it. If you get a chance to see him live..
I think this is the greatest tune he's written and he plays it with a single string pick doing bass and melody - and rythm for that matter. Endless Road
DeanO, Anywhere Tommy plays he holds a 'master class' the day before. Bring your guitar and 50 bucks, but he also puts out a lot of free lessons too.
And there are so many guitar players who know who Chet it, and many who say they learned to play listening to his records-Tommy among them. Chet sure was elusive for a while though. Then again, media options for Chet showing what he did were very limited most of the time he was playing. I'd say Chet is still the cleanest most versatile player that I've heard. Chet has a couple learning DVD's out there. I have them both.
Every time you post a great guitarist-you make me want to get mine out again!! (-: BTW-Love the Voorwerp photo and link to explanation..post below-- Carol-CS

ReplyDeleteThey Say, Pretty imaginative also.
ReplyDeleteI like how his tunes evolve. There are probably 4 or 5 pretty different versions of this one out there.
Ooo la la! That man knows what to do with that thing.
ReplyDeleteOpus, I'm sure I heard the guitar crying Uncle.
ReplyDeleteWow - where do you come up with these great artists Kid? Very cool and I heard a little Stevie Ray in a few of his cords.
ReplyDeleteDeanO, I heard Stevie Ray a few times. Was wondering what this would sound like on an electric.
ReplyDeleteWell, I've been following Tommy a while now. Have seen him live twice now and will continue any chance I get.
DeanO, I heard a little Jerry Reed too.
