At the suggestion of Carl Sagan, the picture of the 'blue dot' was taken by the Voyager 1 spacecraft in a look back moment as it was leaving our solar system....
Psalm 8:4-6 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
Ed, Thanks again, watched the rest of this. Really enjoyed it.
- 7 of 12 - I've also thought it was extremely interesting that the size of the moon and sun and distances apart from the Earth produced a perfect solar eclipse. Imagine how rare that must be in the universe!
- Generally, I could argue either side of the coin on life in the universe. It is easy to just look at the immense numbers and say, well it Has to Be. But does it Have to? I personally don't believe that for example- "given an infinite number of monkeys pounding on typewriters for an infinite amount of time" that they pound out War and Peace, letter for letter, page for page. I simply don't believe it.
- I remember the Englishmen working feverishly to photograph stars during an eclipse in order to prove or disprove Einsteins theory. It was on a TV presentation by itself recently and was quite interesting. They dragging complex equipment through the jungles to get it done.
Finally. I'll never believe man evolved from slime in a pool of water. "Either nothing is a miracle or everything is a miracle" -Einstein "Science without religion is blind, Religion without science is lame" - Einstein
11 of 12. Intelligent design. I agree.
Thanks. Enjoyed it. Some new stuff here too.
What do you think Ed, are we the only ones ? I don't think so. I also subscribe to Carl's theory that the universe extends to infinity in both directions of size.
I don't believe we are alone. I've read that C.S. Lewis wrote stories indicating his belief that we are an embargoed planet due to our rebellion against God. I haven't read them however. Heaven is a place. There are other created beings there. We may be the only ones of a class so rare as to be created in His image, and once the rebellion is settled and the unworthy sorted out, the rest of us will be tasked to colonize: "I looked and saw a new heaven and a new earth." But I've got a lot on my plate here right now. :)

Some cities in the United States have now been in the new year for abut an hour already. In about 2 hours, all cities in the US will be in the New Year already. I don’t know about Hawaii if it has been in the new year for hours already, or maybe hours from now. I don’t know how Pres. Obama is celebrating his new year this first few hours of the new year. Have you ever wondered how people classified as unemployable are celebrating their first few hours of the new year? Do you know what percentage of the unemployables are actually prostitutes and pimps? Pres. Obama, Hillary Clinton, why don’t you ordere these bernanke squandering into the bond market used instead as salaries to pay the unemployed to work producing GDP. You ain”t gonna include prostitution or pimping as two of these jobs. Then people and prostitutes will not celebrate new year or any of the other days of the years by going to prostitutes!!!
